WORTH IT
I have wanted this surgery since I was 16 years old. That’s how old I was when I found out this was even a possibility. 3 years ago I finally got a referral to a surgeon (Dr. Gray). My consultation was a year after that. And finally a year and a month after that I’ve finally gotten a surgery date. January 8th 2018!!!! That’s only 45 days away! Which is no time at all when you’ve been waiting basically 5 years. I’m so excited I think about it all the time. But I also have a lot of anxiety about it. I really have no idea how I’ll look with smaller breasts. In my consultation my PS said we could go down to a C cup. But in reality I don’t even know what that looks like. I have a skewed view because I’ve basically had bigger boobs that anyone I’ve known since I hit puberty. Anyways I’m so stoked and quite nervous but overall I know that this surgery will improve my life so much ????

Hi there! So excited for you! From an HH down to a C is a big difference! You are going to feel so much lighter! I went from a DDD/G to a large B/small C and it is AWESOME. I feel lighter and more athletic and I barely even have to wear a bra! I love it! Spend this time collecting what you need for your recovery and getting everything prepared and organized. It will make the recovery period much easier.

Thanks so much! I’m so nervous now that it’s getting closer and feels more real. Any tips on stuff I’d need for recovery?

Anti bacterial liquid soap, numbing throat spray or lozenges, reading material (nothing too challenging), pill cutter, hand wipes, dry shampoo if you normally wash your hair every day (since you won't be able to shower for a few days). Some women get a wedge pillow for back sleeping, or if you have a recliner you can sleep there. I slept first night on my recliner couch but I wasn't very comfortable there (not accustomed to sleeping in my living room) so I just made a pillow fort in my bed after that. Two under head, 1 under back, and one under each arm. You want your head elevated and not be able to roll over. Button up jammies to wear around the house or similar (zip up housecoat etc.) Button or zip up top (like sweatshirt) and loose pants to wear to the surgery. Take a pillow to put on your chest on your way home from surgery. Soft gel ice packs for icing your incisions and under your arms (unless your doctor disapproves of that-they all have different opinions but mine said to do it and it helped a lot. Do ALL your laundry and clean your house and put commonly used items at waist level so you don't have to reach for them. Stock up on EVERYTHING so you don't have to go to the store. Crackers, soda, easy foods and snacks so you can eat small amounts when you need to without effort. Tums, Tylenol, and more stool softener/laxative/prune juice than you think you could possibly need. Make a station by where you're going to recline with remote controls, phone charger, pills and pill cutter and a notepad and pen (for reminders), hand wipes, etc.
Ha! Is that a long enough list? The more prepared you are ahead of time the easier it will be. Oh, and a heating pad if you have one because your back may be stiff and sore from the inactivity, I know mine was.

I’m so excited and so freaking nervous. My surgery is the first thing I think about when I wake up and the last ting I think about before I go to sleep. I am obsessed with other people’s stories and pictures. And I find myself checking out other women’s chests in public. Not in like a pervy way. I just have such a skewed view of breast size. Does anyone else feel that way? Anyways, I know this will be a great thing for me. I just hope everything turns out okay.

Everything is going to be fine. You must have seen the 97% approval rating of this procedure. I understand it's hard for you to grasp how different your life will be after the reduction. I promise you'll be a much happier person. We're all with you!

Well it happened! Yesterday I went to the hospital at 6:45 am with my wonderful mother and finally got my #tinytatas. It is insane how different I look.. I can’t get over it. Every time I went to the washroom yesterday (which was A LOT) I’d lift my shirt and check them out. They seem great so far! Covered in bandages and my teeny surgical bra. Absolutely teeny. After surgery when I had to get myself dressed I was quite nervous to put the bra on. It literally was so small looking I was shook. But, TADA!! It fits. :)
First day was not so bad. Just achey.. and already have those nipple twinges others have mentioned.. seems soon? Oh well I’m sure it’s fine. The worst part is that because I have to pee so much I also have to get up often. The leaning forwards part of getting up is not my friend. But once I’m up it’s fine. Also, I was absolutely starving when I got home!

I know it sounds funny but peeing often is good! It makes you get up and move around which is good. Better for keeping your circulation from getting sludgy, and also I know I got sore and stiff from sitting too long and sleeping in weird positions. I'm glad you are not in much pain...and yes you look much smaller! Just wait til you see them without the bandages and bra!
