I had a septoplasty last July and I found that one side of my nose is still quite hard and there is scar tissue along the inside of the incision line. The nose tip is still fairly hard and looks droopy when I smile. Is this a normal part of the healing process? Even though its been almost a year and a half post op? My doctor said there nothing we can do about it and that it is completely normal even though its a tad uncomfortable. Will this be permanent or is it normal? Thank you:)
Hi! I had a Septoplasty in March 2022 and my nose has significant scar tissue. I just had my second Kenalog injection but still my nose looks horrible- round and undefined completely different than my original which I was very happy with. Im concerned my surgeon isnt giving me enough Kenalog injections given the time that I have had to live with this new nose which was under the impression septoplastys didnt change your nose! Can I see another surgeon to address this w/o surgery?
Also feels like this side is now much smaller than the other side due to this scar tissue? I thought that septoplasty only involves working in the upper part of the nose? Dr says to give it time (its been 2 and a half months) already but I cant see it getting better- scarring too thick!?
I had a septoplasty and tip work done about 14 months ago. Everything looked great until November, when a small pea size lump was felt and seen (a bit) in the tip of nose. I had many steroid injections, to no avail. Last week, my surgeon made a small incision inside the nostril to cut out scar tissue. Everything was smooth until a week later. I can now feel and see (a little) the lump. He ordered a MRI which found nothing in the cartilage department. Thoughts?
I got my nose pierced three months ago so it is obviously not healed, but I need to get a septoplasty and possibly a turbanant reduction. Could I wear a plastic or glass nose ring? I really dont want to get it repierced being as I have dealt with a lot of keloids and irritation so I can only imagine piercing over the scar tissue.
Surgery 1: septoplasty and turbinate reduction. Splints removed in recovery room. Surgery 2: removal of scar tissue. Packing for 24 hrs. Surgery 3 (14 days ago): revision left nasal surgery. Splints removed in recovery room - was supposed to have splint stitched in place for 10 days but ENT changed mind in theatre. Surgeries over two years. Monthly ENT visits to cut, file, burn, stretch scar tissue but unsuccessful. Follow up today and scar tissue is back. Help! Losing hope...
I apparently have very thick skin as 2 years later my nose is still very very big and my tip retaining a lot of scar tissue I have a nasal collapse cannot breath and feel very unhappy as my nose prior to surgery was beautiful I had surgery to start with to fix a mere septum that was bent. The first open surgery the surgeon did not tell me I had thick skin I was unaware of everything, I assumed I was in good safe hands, I cannot spend so much money and I am very lost, I need serious advice please
Teeth punctured through bottom lip, front teeth dangled, lip busted open. It is unclear if my maxilla bone was cracked in the process. I am seeking a nose surgery and options for my lip. Lip has many bulbs of scar tissue inside. It is uneven.
I had a septoplasty 6 months ago after an injury (closed septoplasty, no rhinoplasty). In the past week I found what I thought was a pimple or abscess in the most forward part of my nose. I began picking at it trying to pop it and am afraid it was a piece of a suture (I think they call it tip-defining suture). I cannot say if my nose has changed shape. Are permanent sutures used in septoplasty and if so, has enough time elapsed that scar tissue will support the structure of my nose?
I had Septoplasty with turbinate reduction surgery 04/01/09. My doctor also 'rasped' the hump that I had. I got my splint out 8 days later. I can breathe so well, but my hump is still there, and it's bigger. My ENT said he smoothed it down and the bump looked gone during surgery. Could it be swollen just enough to look the same as it used to? Should I worry about scar tissue? Is there anything I can do to get the swelling down?
