I'm 2 weeks post-op and just caught a cold. Things were starting to feel better after surgery. But now i caught a cold or sinus infection. It's terrible, can't breathe at all through the nose now. I use saline every day. However I need to blow my nose all the time now, am I doing any damage to my surgery results? I can't help it. Don't know what else to do, not allowed to use xylometazoline etc. As I had a 5 year addiction before surgery.
I can breathe so much better but I am worried I may have done damage? No blood. The mucus was a clear with some brown very thick sticky mass. The thickest I have ever experienced. . I can breathe better and might be being paranoid but I wonder if my nostril looks a tad larger. Was the mucus a normal part of the healing process that I shouldn't have removed or am I okay?
I know its sounds bad but i have very bad allergies and had them from birth, that means i need to blow my nose alot and i do, sometimes i get carried away and blow furiously and alsl try to pick my nose briefly untill i realize that what im doing is wrong. Thankfully i havent bled or suffered any significant pain, did i ruin my septoplasty? Yours, Adham
My doctor never told me I couldn't blow my nose - that I remember! :) My friend who is a RN nurse said I could blow gently. I've blown gently without actually touching my nose, just to relieve snot. Should I go back to my surgeon immediately or wait until our follow up in 6 days?
The doctor has me using saline spray and gel to keep it from drying out, but is it ok that the scab comes out? When it does it tends to bleed a little, nothing major though.
Hi, I recently had a septoplasty and blew my nose extremely carefully (like little mini nose breaths) on day four of recovery and didn't think anything of it however today, day six, i noticed that what I had thought to be a huge booger is actually what I believe to be a stent in my nose. So basically my question is is it possible for my septum to 'revert' back to what it was pre-surgery because the stint was moved? Also, I've had no bleeding issues in case that helps
