Hello, 2 days ago, I had a mole larger than a pencil eraser removed. It required stitches. The doctor told me to remove the gauze after 24 hours and leave the 3 steri strips on. I did that. However, 2 of the 3 steri strips aren't even touching the incision now, because they're too lose. What do I do? Is that okay, should I replace them with commercial butterfly bandaids?
My doctor told me to leave the steristrips on until I get my stitches removed in a week. Its been two days and my strips are bloody and gross looking on my face. They did give me extra strips but I was just wondering what my options were.
I got a mole excised (upper lip, bet. my nose and my mouth) by a plastic surgeon. He took some stitches out on day 7 and the remaining out today (day 10). I've had steristrips on since surgery, but was told not to put Vaseline. Now he said to let it air dry and not put anything else. Reading the posts here it seems keeping the wound moist is best to minimize scarring. Can I still try Vaseline now that the stitches are out? Should I keep using steristrips? When can I start using silicone pads?
I had a mole excised from my back yesterday, and got internal and external stitches. After taking off this puffy bandage this morning as directed, I noticed quite a bit of blood in the center of the incision under the steri-strips. I'm not sure if this means a stitch has come loose, or if this is just normal bleeding.
I had a 6mm punch biopsy performed for a tiny mole on my ankle three weeks ago (came back benign). Three external sutures were put in. The nurse removed the stitches but I said it didn't look healed. She covered it with steristrips. It's been three weeks and the steristrips finally came off today and it looks like its not healing to me. The office won't be open until next week so I can't call or see them for a couple of days. It doesn't look like any biopsies I've had before.
