I had a chin implant placed 4 years ago, and I didn't have much trouble with it until maybe 9 months ago. It's making my lip feel very stiff, like it's wrapped too tight around my bottom teeth. My chin feels swollen often, and sometimes it can be difficult to move my bottom lip properly. Is it possible that the implant could be infected after 4 years? I'm wondering if I should have the implant removed and get a sliding genioplasty instead since something seems wrong with it.
How long does it take for swelling to resolve in chin after genioplasty? Also, will the swelling make it rather long? I am just worried. Also, will it change your lip volume and make them smaller? I had vertical augmentation with a horizontal advancement. I am a female and it was moved 5mm vertically and 7mm horizontally.
I've had my chin shaved down in 2004 with external incision, and shaved again in 2014 with an intraoral incision including my jaw shaved. Still unhappy I had genioplasty 3 weeks ago and don't like it at all, idk if it's swelling but I hate it. Can I have another surgery without major damage? Or is it too risky?
I am considering getting chin reduction surgery but when I try to do research I cant find much info. Considering I would have my bone shaved& some soft tissue removed.. there is swelling after the procedure but my question is how long will it take for the swelling to go completely down? I just dont want to feel discouraged in the healing process. I read somewhere it can take 3 months but I read elsewhere it can take 6. Recovery is my main concern.
(2wks post op) Although I have swelling I am 100 % certain my chin is longer - I can feel the bone. There is minimal swelling horizontally, however, the optimum length of my chin is neither swollen nor bruised as I can feel the tight sharp edge of the bone. My smile is more masculine than before and if the bone and tissue heal like this I imagine there will be less of a chance to correct it? I am still wearing the bandage/mask in impossible hope suppressing the bone. Who should I contact at this time of year?
I am day 6 post sliding genioplasty for a receding chin. I am completely panicky. I wanted a subtle change but i find myself a completely different person. Family keeps telling me that i still look the same and that the change that im hating is due to the swelling. I know i should be patient but when can i start seeing some results as to what i will look like after all this ordeal?
I just had a chin lift 14 days ago and I wore the face garment for 3 straight days, I went back to work and only wear it at night. I still see some swelling and waves or tunnels in my chin area. My doctor said it is normal and I will fully see results in a few months. I am getting massages in that area and it helps. Is this normal? Everyone tells me to be patient but it also feels a little hard.
Thank you for any insight you can provide. I had osseous genioplasty advancement 2.5 years ago. My surgeon has retired. I still have variable unsightly swelling and I also have dimpling at the bottom of the chin. What could this be and is there a procedure which can fix it?
