I am considering getting chin reduction surgery but when I try to do research I can’t find much info. Considering I would have my bone shaved& some soft tissue removed.. there is swelling after the procedure but my question is how long will it take for the swelling to go completely down? I just don’t want to feel discouraged in the healing process. I read somewhere it can take 3 months but I read elsewhere it can take 6. Recovery is my main concern.

Most of the swelling comes on fast (peaks at day 3) and then reduces to 80% by 2 weeks, another 10% in another 2 weeks (90% at week 4), and the last 10% over a couple of months. Most people don't notice that last 10%, so you would notice most of your outcome within a month. I would also recommend doing a reduction genioplasty, not just contouring of the chin...the soft tissue adapts better and minimizes the amount of soft tissue you need to remove under the chin.
