Hello, Im wondering if a genioplasty might benefit me. I think moving my chin down could help with my mental crease? And create a better side profile? My chin is also slightly crooked and I think thats part of the reason the right side of my face has this sort of lump underneath my lip corners.
Hello! My main concerns-mentalis strain, difficulty closing the mouth, chin height and side profile. Maxfcl surgeon is not advising reduction genioplasty as it will lead to chin ptosis. And sliding reduction genio will make my face even more longer and kind of weird. Another one says reduction sliding genio is fine for me but want to move 4mm in front which I find will be too much for me. Both say double jaw surgery is best but Im not doing that. I have deep mandalabial crease.
Years ago, I had a chin implant removed, a sliding genio + revision of the same. This year, i had mentalis resuspension with mitek screws for witches' chin deformity and lower lip incompetence caused by these. I see improvement but my mentalis strain, which the surgeon said would be helped, is still significant. Also, initial tooth coverage has dropped somewhat. Can this surgery be repeated with further Mitek screws to achieve a more complete resolution of my chin problems?
My chin was originally small and narrow but it was feminine and defined. In 2014, I had a submental chin implant that made my chin huge so I removed it 9 months later. I developed a witch chin so I had a subemntal chin resection in 2018 to correct it.The balling was improved but my lower lip is now sunken, I have incisors show and mentalis strain. Is it possible that the mentalis was disturbed during these procedures even though non of them was intraoral? Can a mentalis muscle resuspension help?
I have a bad mentalis strain and lip incompetence. I cannot close my lips properly and have to bring up my bottom lip very high up to meet my upper lip. My teeth are straight. I dont think botox will help because then I cannot even close my mouth since the muscles are relaxed and I cannot meet my lips together anymore. What can I do ?
I am dissatisfied with my lower third. I have lip incompetence, mentalis muscle strain, nasiolabal folds, an overbite and an undefined jawline. I also have noncosmetic issues like snoring. I recently realized a lot of this may be due to a weak chin. I looked into fillers, chin implants, sliding genioplasty and even jaw surgery. Which one of these would best address my concerns? I dont want to drastically affect the width or shape of my chin, I just want to have a jawline and look more balanced.
Title:None,Content:Why does my chin elongating when I smile. I cant move my chin downwards and also my bottom lip doesn't move making my speech blurred. Is there anyway to get rid of it? I'm thinking about calling a board certified facial plastic surgeon
It's been three months after my 8mm sliding genioplasty. My chin is starting to show all the mentails strain that it had before I had my surgery. It's only been developing over the past week. I was told by my surgeon that a SG would get rid of this kind of thing. My chin is also off center by 2mm now (it wasn't before), but I was willing to live with it because the dimpling was gone. A follow up appt with my doc won't be for 3 more months. I'm really unhappy. Can this be fixed?
I had a sliding genioplasty and will reverse it. I also have some soft tissue ptosis which I assume is the mentalis muscle and may need a mentalis muscle resuspension. I've read negative things about keeping the mental in your body all your life if you're young and would like to one day have them removed. Would removing the plates and screws compromise the mentalis muscle or anything else?
I cannot close my lips without a lot of strain, so can only be done for short bursts and looks odd because upper lip has to strain a lot to reach bottom lip. My smile is very gummy but I am okay with that because I can smile alright if I'm posing for a picture at least. My side profile is AWFUL. Receding chin is pretty extreme in my opinion and also perhaps upper lip incompetence and mentalis strain? 2 young children and FT job so less downtime is best. Told invasive jaw extension previously.
