I have a lap band placed way back in 2009. I have had no problems or issues with it but I never lost significant weight with it either (maybe 15lb). I have finally lost the weight over the last 2 years (glp1) and will be getting a tummy tuck soon! My port kind of protrudes now so I can only imagine after the TT. Is removing only the port an option? Id hate to have a full surgery to remove the band when its been unfilled for over a decade and not causing problems.
I am having my lap band removed. The surgeon talked about placing mesh on my stomach, during the surgery, after band is removed, to prevent scar tissue (or something). Is this necessary? I dont want a foreign object in my body. That is part of why Im having the band removed!
Lap band placed in 2006. NEVER filled. ALWAYS been UNFILLED. Considering removal b/c I dont think I should keep a foreign object in my body, which I am not using. My fear is weight gain. 2 bariatric surgeons said ppl gain after band removal. Does this ALSO apply to ppl whose band has never been filled? Is the band, by simply sitting around my stomach, causing some restriction, even unfilled?
Underwent lap band in 2008. Lost 50+ lbs. But would like to loose 70 more. I am 36 yrs old. I sought two quotes for revision from lap band to sleeve or bypass. One surgeon told me I needed the band emptied for a month before sleeve. He would only agree to do the sleeve. The other surgeon said I didn't need lap band emptied and he could do either sleeve or bypass. Have no health issues besides obesity and occasional heart burn. Which is the correct way?
Ive had my gastric band for 6 years and in the last 3 i started having heartburn and night coughs . Ive had a X-ray and no issues were found. What I dont understand is I can g with no problems, no night cough no heartburn then suddenly Ill have it for days at a time cant sleep for 2 nights because cant Lay down or sit up to sleep. - night cough just horrendous! Would It be worth emptying and trying again? I feel like Im justputting up with the issue and its probably bad. Im so fed up
Before that I had gastric bypass. I was told the out going hole had been stretched and I was eating non stop. And a whole host of other issues that go along with food going right thru me. It has been happening for over a year now. I had lap band about 4 years ago. I don't know what to do. The pain at times is unbearable.
I have had my lap band deflated for surgery and have gained a few kilos. Is it safe for it to be inflated while I am having chemotherapy? Bearing in mind having steroids administered (Undesirable side effects of prednisone therapy include gastric or duodenal ulcers).
