I know a big sign of detecting breast cancer is noticing changeds in the breast - contours, indents, etc. After implant removal I know those things are possible just from removing the implants, but what about after they've healed up? Does going through an implant removal surgery and the breast changes that occur, new scar tissue that forms with a capsulectomy, etc., then make it more difficult to detect breast cancer?
I had my implants in 2010, removal in 2016. The impants 350cc were intact, capsule was very thin so it was left and pec muscle was not reattached where original surgeon cut it (ugh). I have had severe muscular upper back pain since the day I got the implants. Have began power sculpt gym class, back paij is worse again. I noticed my scar tissue under breast is thick again. Upon massaging it agressively, my back loosens up. What couuld be happening here? Is my pec damaged or stuck? Is there a fix?
I have gel implants under the muscle. I've consulted with my PS for removal. He advised he would not be removing the scar tissue only the implant, as its a risky procedure as it could rupture the lung. I'm concerned about this as I've recently read about potential risk of cancer associated with scar tissue remaining, so removal of both is better. Also, is his rational only relevant to those with implants under the muscle? So much literature about pros and cons. Help!
I had silicone implants placed at age 51. Two years later, I had them replaced with different implants as I had scar tissue around one nipple that caused an indentation under the breast. I had the my current implants for 5 years, and developed a seroma, so decided to take them out. I just went for the 3 week check up, and I have an indentation all the way across the same breast where the scar tissue had been. The nipple looks like it is sucked in. Any help on this?
Ive had smooth gel implants since 11/2015 (over the muscle). Recently I started to notice a tightening and firmness in my right breast (only). My surgeon who placed them had me get an MRI. The images confirmed there is NO rupture, but I do have capsular contracture. Ive decided to explant. My surgeon said there was no need for a capsulectomy and to remove the implant only. Im torn. I dont think I have any BII issues. Im concerned about long term issues with the scar tissue. Recommendations?
I am now 79 years old and I am quite concerned about the blood cancer the implant may cause since I do have quite a bit of scar tissue. I would like to know if I should consider getting my implant removed or should I have frequent examinations? This does add to my anxiety issues. Thank you, Diana
They left the scar tissue in there. Also I have silicone in both my armpits. I had my breast implants removed in 2014. My breast are rock hard because they left in the scar tissue and some silicone. I also have silicone, in my armpits. Ive since been diagnosed with fibromyalgia which actually has the same symptoms as breast implant illness. I feel like I have no quality of life anymore. I feel so ill all the time.
Ive read ONCE on here that leaving the capsule in can help with breast shape after implant removal however I havent seen that repeated. Im curious if this is true and if there are any other benefits to leaving the capsule in (if silicone implant is NOT ruptured) such as easier recovery, etc. I also am curious if since the capsule is my own scar tissue if that means its a safe part of me now or if it will be a hindrance/danger later on.
