What is the difference between truSculpt iD and truSculpt 3D?

TruSculpt iD is the newest version of truScuplt by Cutera.  TruSculpt iD uses RF technology to destroy fat
cells using heat; the destroyed fat
cells are then removed by the body over 8 to 12 weeks.  There is no downtime and no anesthesia is required.  While the 3D hand-pieces are included with
the iD device (for treatment of small areas like under the chin), truSculpt iD also offers hands-free treatment of multiple areas at
the same time. Treatment times as low as 15 mins result in an average 24% fat
reduction and beneficial skin tightening.

TRUSCULPT ID uses FIXED electrodes so is less operator dependent. This is meant to replace the trusculpt 3D . In fact, a motion head is also on the trusculpt ID but is rarely used as operator dependence is less involved and consistent temperature increases are controlled using the TRUSCULPT ID HEADS.

Trusculpt 3D requires the operator to control the energy pulse and to move the handpiece to keep the energy even and to prevent heating the skin beyond what is safe. In Trusculpt ID, the heating RF pads are placed on the skin and don't move. The pads have sensors in the them to control energy delivery and to ensure the skin isn't heated beyond the safe temperature zones. The procedure time is general less with the ID than the 3D for the same amount of area treated.
