What is the difference between truSculpt iD and truSculpt 3D?

truSculpt iD is the latest fat reduction device on the market.  In addition to being hands free and having the ability to treat multiple areas simultaneously, the treatment yields an average fat reduction of 24% in just 15 minutes and just one treatment!  Nothing else compares!  Because you are heating and not freezing the truSculpt family of devices including truSculpt, truSculpt 3D and truSculpt iD tighten the skin while reducing the fat.  truSculpt iD also has all 3 devices contained now in one platform.

TruSculpt iD is the newest version of truScuplt by Cutera.  TruSculpt iD uses RF technology to destroy fat
cells using heat; the destroyed fat
cells are then removed by the body over 8 to 12 weeks.  There is no downtime and no anesthesia is required.  While the 3D hand-pieces are included with
the iD device (for treatment of small areas like under the chin), truSculpt iD also offers hands-free treatment of multiple areas at
the same time. Treatment times as low as 15 mins result in an average 24% fat
reduction and beneficial skin tightening.

TRUSCULPT ID uses FIXED electrodes so is less operator dependent. This is meant to replace the trusculpt 3D . In fact, a motion head is also on the trusculpt ID but is rarely used as operator dependence is less involved and consistent temperature increases are controlled using the TRUSCULPT ID HEADS.

Trusculpt 3D requires the operator to control the energy pulse and to move the handpiece to keep the energy even and to prevent heating the skin beyond what is safe. In Trusculpt ID, the heating RF pads are placed on the skin and don't move. The pads have sensors in the them to control energy delivery and to ensure the skin isn't heated beyond the safe temperature zones. The procedure time is general less with the ID than the 3D for the same amount of area treated.

There is no downtime and no anesthesia required.   Treatments take as little as 15 mins with a 24% fat reduction and beneficial skin tightening.  The 3D version is still  available with the iD to treat certain areas.

truSculpt iD is really just the name of the new platform that includes the 3D but adds the additional capability to treat multiple area simultaneously - hands-free, which enables the treatment to be twice as fast as doing a hands-on 3D treatment. 
For highly contoured or other small areas the iD still has the 3D and small applicators that can still be used just like before for hands-on treatments.
