It is not recommended to dermaplane while on Accutane. Any type of exfoliation, including chemical treatments and manual exfoliation should be avoided because of sensitivity to the skin.
Your skin will be more sensitive and be harder to heal with cosmetic treatments done at the same time as isotretinoin. I do this frequently however, and like fraxel/clear + brilliant/microneedling/viva treatments to enhance results. Do with PRP to promote healing. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. Accutane (isotretinoin) therapy, also known as isotretinoin, is one of the best medications on the market to treat acne. During therapy and up to 6 months after completing isotretinoin, your skin is highly sensitive and chances of scarring are high; therefore I recommend my patients to wait at least 6 months after completing therapy to consider any treatments to the skin including tattoos, piercings, cosmetic procedures (dermaplaning, dermabrasions, peels and lasers). With that being said, I recommend you speak to your dermatologist regarding your concerns before getting any cosmetic procedures performed. Good luck and take care.
Botox is a fabulous injection and I often combines with chemical peels or microdermabrasion. As long as pressure wasn't placed on the areas that you had Botox you should be just fine.

Most light to medium depth chemical peels can be used after dermaplaning as long as your esthetician evaluates the skin making sure your a good candidate for both treatments. If you decide on dermaplaning prior to a chemical peel it will help the peel penetrate deeper into the skin.
