Will being underweight prevent me from getting a rhinoplasty?

I'm 5'1 and around 78 lbs and I know that is very underweight, but I have been underweight my whole life and dont have any disordered eating habits. I am a bit nervous that my surgeon will deny me getting a rhinoplasty because of my weight. But besides me being underweight, I am otherwise healthy. I had a yearly check up with my Primary Care Physcian back in october and she said besides me needing to gain a few pounds, I am healthy. And I also have a normal menstruel cycle. I've just been underweight my whole life and struggle to gain weight.

Your surgeon might be completely fine doing a rhinoplasty in your case. Each surgeon has their own personal protocol for clearing patients for surgery. If your surgeon has any concerns about your nutritional status, they could always check 'nutrition labs,' like your albumin and pre-albumin levels. The incisions and size of the space that needs to heal from a rhinoplasty are small, but it is always important to make sure that your patients are optimized in every way possible before surgery. If you are otherwise healthy and your nutrition labs are normal, I don't foresee a reason why your surgeon would not proceed with your surgery. Good luck!
