Poor facial asymmetry - Jaw shave or genioplasty? (Photos)

Question

Hi there, I know my facial symmetry is poor, but I don't know what exactly would improve it. My jaw is very small following from my ear to my mid face, at that point there is a bump and the rest is very round. My chin has a ton of fatty tissue but is also pronounced bone underneath. I’m assuming if I reduce the size of my chin & jaw I will eventually need a nose job too. I’m ready to begin consultations now & have the operation this year.

Based on these photos it does not look that you have significant asymmetry. You may consider to start with nose surgery and see how would that affect overall facial balance. Hope this helps

You have brought up many good points about facial symmetry and facial balance. There are multiple treatment options that could be discussed. I agree that your chin is prominent and probably has a thick chin pad. A reduction genioplasty would reduce the projection and improve facial balance. Also, increasing the chin length would provide an improved jawline and diminish your deep mentolabial fold. This may be all satisfactory but you still consider a rhinoplasty and angle of jaw implants.
