I'll be fourteen soon and I know it is a bit young, but my body is almost completely mature. My grandma used to take hot oil when I was a baby to make my nose skinny, over time as the skin began to droop, giving an illusion that I have an extremely long nose. Everyone would bully me, call me ugly and Pinocchio. I live in SoCal, and my parents decided to consider it to bring my self esteem up. I would do it when I am around 14 1/2. What are your thoughts and any idea on surgeons who do it at that age?
Answer: Rhinoplasty age I have done girls as young as 15 and boys as young as 16. You need to have a consult along with your parents who need to give consent for you to have surgery.

Answer: Nose job as teenager The nose usually stops growing in girls a bit earlier than in boys but it would be acceptable to do a nasal surgery at your age. I have yet to see or hear of a nose growing after a rhinoplasty has been performed at a young age.

Answer: Is 14 too young for a nose job? Dear Andromedaj, You may certainly start the process of looking for surgeons at this time. I would suggest going to some consultations where the surgeons use digital imaging. This can be a fun experience allowing you to see your proposed surgical results. You will be given a copy of your before and proposed after photograph to take home with you. You will also have the opportunity to see many before and after photographs and possibly speak with other patients who are in different stages of recovery from the same procedure. One of your parents will need to accompany you to your appointments as you are a minor and they will need to consent to your consultation. After consultation and examination it will be determined whether you are at the proper age to undergo this procedure and if not then a time frame may be set. Hopefully these appointments will give you something to look forward to and help boost your self esteem seeing the possibilities for the future. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
