Will Liposuction interfere with my pinched nerve?

Liposuction doesnt interfere with pinced nerves as the liposuction is performed in the fat layer which is in a layer higher than the nerves depending on the area treated.  I suggest you find a physician with signficant experience in treating delicate cases.  Best, Dr. Emer.

I am uncertain what area of the body do you want liposuction??If I understand you correctly you have a pinched nerve(in laymans term) that exibits a tingling feeling down your arm. This is usually a nerve that is compressed as it leaves the spinal cord. Thus based on this assumption:Liposuction per sae will not affect the "pinched nerve". Liposuction is superficial and not performed where the nerve leaves the spinal cord.However, how you are positioned for anesthesia may compress the the "pinched nerve".I strongly suggest that you receive preoperative clearance from your Nuerolgist, make certain that both your Plastic Surgeon and Anesthesiologist are aware of your "pinched nerve" prior to surgery.My best wishes.

From what you describe, it is unlikely liposuction would interfere with your pinched nerve.It basically has to do with the anatomic location of where the nerve impingement is and which areas you plan on having treated with liposuction.There will be some short-term physiological overall changes after liposuction, such as swelling.This could potentially aggravate your condition in the short-term, though my best guess it is unlikely.Best of luck with your procedure as well as nerve impingement recovery.Best,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
