If i have a porcelain veneer that needs replacement, is the doctor able to recreate the same veneer so that it will still fit with my pre-existing retainer?

In short, yes, if the current shape is to your liking than a pre scan or impression can be taken of your existing veneer for the ceramist to follow to the tee.  However, even with this step added it can never be guaranteed that your retainer will fit properly but it is definitely worth a try.

A retainer is custom made to very precisely fit your tooth position and shape. Any time dental work, such as a veneer replacement is done, the shape of the tooth will be slightly ( or sometimes, significantly) altered. Because of this the old retainer will not fit as well and a new retainer is often needed. Once in a while the existing retainer can be modified to work, but that would be a compromise! Good luck with you new veneer!
