Thank you for your question. You should require no downtime. I use blunt cannulas for dermal fillers and patients generally experience minimal bruising. Now, injecting the lips can result in significant swelling for a couple days after the procedure. If you don't want anyone know you had anything done, you may want to give yourself a couple days. Fridays are great for fillers and botox because by Monday, any minor bruising and swelling has usually resolved.- Dr Bryson G. Richards
I use cannulas for many injections and my patients rarely get any bruising or swelling. When needles you may get some bruising but that is unpredictable. Typically there is no downtime. Best, Dr. Emer.
Downtime if really variable. In most cases, if a person doesn't bruise there is no downtime. Most people will experience some swelling for 2-3 days but this rarely prevents someone from working or socializing. The unknown is whether or not someone will bruise and how severely. In certain areas, such as the undereye, bruising can be prominent and difficult to camouflage. Avoiding aspiring and ibuprofen for two weeks prior to your injection, taking Arnica montana before treatment and icing afterward can all help reduce the risk. Finding an experienced physician injector who uses cannulas (rather than needles) when appropriate can also reduce the potential risk of downtime.
