Are my scars deep enough for filler? I was told in a consult they are too shallow, but I wondered if the lighting was just good. Or what procedures would be best for my scars? I have other ones similar to these but they are less noticeable to me.
Answer: Field Subcision Can Work Well For Improving Numerous Shallow Rolling Scars Additional photos in varying lighting would have been extremely helpful here. However, from what can be seen there seem to be many superficial rolling scars. If this is so, then a Field Subcision of the cheeks would be a very logical first step for improving these. In general, Field Subcisions are accompanied these days by the addition of an HA filler whenever deemed necessary. In your search for treatments, you will no doubt be hawked expensive fraxel laser or RF treatments. However, be cautious when evaluating these, since the hard science to back up their use lags well behind the heavy marketing hype and social media buzz to promote these gizmos. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist scar treatment specialist, and best of luck.

Answer: Are these acne scars? If the photo of your nasolabial fold is displaying broad-based and depressed acne scars, depending on your examination, microdroplet Silikon-1000 injections maybe considered to improve their appearance. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Treating scar with derma fillers Dermal fillers can indeed be used to minimize the appearance of certain types of scars, particularly those which are indented or atrophic, such as acne scars. They work by filling in the area under the scar to bring it level with the rest of the skin's surface, thereby making it less noticeable. The results are temporary and typically last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the specific type of filler used. However, for a scar that is raised, dermal fillers might not be the most effective treatment. In such cases, treatments aimed at reducing the raised tissue, such as steroid injections, laser therapy, or surgical revision, might be more beneficial. It's important to book a consultation to assess the scar in person to determine the most suitable treatment. There are many factors to consider, including the type, size, and location of the scar, the patient's skin type, and the patient's overall health status. As always, any procedure carries potential risks and side effects, so these should be discussed thoroughly before making a decision.

Answer: Fine Lines and Skin Texture Based on your pictures, you may be a good candidate for microneedling in combination with dermal filler. Microneedling performs micro injuries to the area in aim of promoting collagen and elastin to help with skin quality and texture. A soft dermal filler may then be used to fill in the fine lines and divots that are creating the shadows in the area.An in-person or FaceTime consultation with a certified aesthetic specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation for treatment and pricing. Respectfully, Elena Gavilanes, Plastic Surgery PA-C
