Energy drinks post op?

Question

Is it safe to consume energy drinks (specifically Monster Ultra Zero Energy Drinks) post op or is there a time frame I should wait before consuming one? I had breast augmentation surgery on 11/18 and am a little over a week post op. I'd like to have one Ultra Zero, but don't want to mess up my recovery. I drank them occasionally up until 2 weeks prior to my surgery, so I'm not worried about caffeine intolerance. Would there be any impact on recovery or any complications that could occur?

Congrats on your breast aug! I don't ever promote drinking Monster energy drinks. Most of those types of drink contain a lot of chemicals that in general could increase the heart rate. If you find you must drink one I would wait until you have discontinued all your post op medication. Try looking for a healthier alternative. Good luck!

Thank you for your question.  Drinking energy drinks could have effects on the medication your doctor prescribed.  Caffeine could also cause hypersensitivity in the breast after surgery for some patients.  It would be best to consult with your surgeon regarding consumption of energy drinks.  Best of luck.
