Is it better to stage your mommy makeover in steps or do it all at once?

Undergoing a combination procedure is a bit of a compromise between getting it done all at once with more discomfort and a harder recovery versus two separate procedures. In some instances, complications can be higher in a combined procedure depending on one's general health and the length of the proposed surgery. Although we perform combination surgeries frequently, it is always easier to recover from a single surgery then two.

It is very common to combine the procedures that interest you (breast lift and tummy tuck with liposuction) and assuming you are in good health, it should not be an issue. Hello, Thank you for your question. Should you be a good candidate, many patients have these surgeries performed at the same time. This often decreases the cost and recovery time. Having them performed separately shouldn't affect your final results. I'd recommend speaking to your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to determine what your best options would be. Take care.

I believe in staging these procedures primarily for safety (minimizing risks and complications from being under general anesthesia for prolonged times). Although, performing these procedures in one stage may seem to make sense, it is a tremendous assault on a patient's body making recovery very difficult and prolonged. This really depends on the comfort level of your surgeon. Many surgeons elect to perform all procedures at once, but some prefer to stage their procedures. In the majority of my mommy makeover patients, we accomplish multiple procedures at the same time.  This is certainly more convenient than having multiple recovery periods.  At the consultation, we can decide how much is "too much" to do at once, but in most circumstances, I am able to perform everything in one session.  Occasionally, health issues or other concerns prohibit the ability to do this, but this is less common.
