Can you give me advice on healing of upper blepharoplasty incision after several times of incision dehiscing? (Photo)

Question

2 mos post upper blepharoplasty-need advice in healing after several openings of incision despite diligent care-wore eye patch at night to protect from rubbing-is extremely rough & bumpy after suture removal X3. Surgeon reinforced it will be fine but I worry on extreme slow healing & closure of incision. Will it eventually granulate to a smooth incision line? What should I be applying to help healing process. Orders to continue w/ antibiotic/steroid ointment until runs out? Thank you in advance.

You are taking a long time to heal here.  However, I do not close an eyelid wound when it dehisces.  It will close on its own, and it is rare that you see any irregularity once healed.  Your incision will eventually heal.  At that time you may need some steroid injections to soften and smooth out any scar tissue.  And if the scar appears irregular some laser can help.

You should probably give it more time to heal.  Although without dehiscience, the incisions are usually healed by now, it will probably take longer to heal once you had a dehiscience.  These usually heal very well given enough time.

The best thing that you can do to help your eyelid heal would be to protect the area from stress. Avoid pulling on the area and take care not to sleep on these wounds. External factors such as smoking, excessive physical activity, too much salt, for example, can delay healing. You can expect to start looking your best 6 months to a year post-op.
