Cutera Excel V - periorbital vein area swelling.

Question

Yesterday I had my 1st out of 3 Cutera Excel V laser treatments for periorbital blue veins under both eyes. I believe the periorbital veins treated under each eye have caused localized swelling exactly where the veins traced. By contrast though, my tear troughs appear more hollow. Is this normal and just a result of the contrast between the outer periorbital area swelling and the tear trough?

There is always swelling with the Excel V laser treatments. It will not affect tear trough or fat. Perhaps some topical steroids will be helpful.

I use the excel V for facial vessels quite frequently and find it to be an excellent option for red veins and capillaries on the cheeks chin and nose and using the YAG wavelength for blue veins in the periorbital areas. There is definately post laser swelling that can be reduced with cool compresses. Tracing the views is an easier task than removing an area that appears dark so you may have some residual darkness.

I have never seen a hollow form but what could be happening is you are seeing more now that before in that area because the vein focus is less. Give it time and speak to your doctor about your concerns.
