Hi doctors! I am 33 years old, I got a breast augmentation in February, 300ccs in both my boobs. I haven’t regained feeling in my right boob, it’s not just the nipple it’s the entire thing. Is that normal or is something wrong?
Answer: Sensation Lost of sensation is a risk with an augmentation. Your sensation may yet return. If you are still numb at a year, you will stay numb.

Answer: Breast Numbness Thank you for your question about recovery from. For specific questions like this and about your recovery in general, it is best to speak directly with your doctor or doctor’s representative – such as his or her nurse, or the physician on call for the practice. You will likely get many differing opinions from members of the RealSelf Community, but they have not personally seen or examined you. Nobody should know you or your unique set of circumstances better than your doctor. If you feel you are not being listened to or you are doubting your doctor’s recommendations, then it is certainly within your rights to seek a second opinion and get the advice from another board certified physician. This should be done through an in-person consultation with a thorough evaluation, including a review of your history, review of all prior treatment and with a physical examination. Obviously, if you think that you are having a medical emergency or other serious problem, you should call 911 and/or go to your nearest emergency room. Best Wishes.

Answer: Change in sensation Change in sensation is a risk during a breast augmentation. Typically the change is temporary and resolves during healing. Sometimes it can take up to one year for this to occur. However if nerves were cut or damaged during surgery the loss may be permanent. I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about your concerns.

Answer: Numbness Dear rebeccab5, numbness is very common. It depends on the operation but often times sensation can return in a couple of weeks, a year, or not at all. Nipple sensation itself is very important and can sometimes be lost with breast surgery. This is often mentioned in the risks of the consent process. I imagine your numbness is just temporary although I would have to examine you. Answer: Numbness in entire boob 6 months after surgery. Greetings Rebecca, You should return to your plastic surgeon to evaluate your ongoing right breast sensory loss (numbness). A re-examination and consultation can help determine if this is an issue which can improve with time. Sensory loss and delayed return of sensation can occur after breast enlargement surgery. Best Regards,
