What do low profile implants look like?

But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. The lower profile  the implants, the wider they will appear.  It all depends upon your anatomy and your goals.  I would have to see you in person to tell you if the low profiles make sense for you.

In determining what profile implant you want first one needs to find out your goals. I.E cup size. Mentor, makes a great breast sizing system that patients find very helpful in helping them to decide what size looks best on them. These are special implant inserts that the patient puts in their bra and then they can check themselves out in front of the mirror. Next it is important to measure out your breast width diameter. Once you know this information plus when knows your current breast size, then the plastic surgeon can pick the appropriate profile implants. I hope you find this information useful. It depends how much breast tissue you have.  A low profile implant tends to be very flat.  It can look like a very natural breast, or like you don't have an implant at all.

You will find that online consultants will not be of much specific help to you when it comes to determining the appropriate breast implant size/volume necessary to achieve an outcome that you are happier with. Generally speaking, I find very little use for "low-profile" breast implants in our practice; in my opinion, they are to "flat" to achieve most patients' goals. Keep in mind as you are thinking about your goals that sometimes adjustment of the breast implant pockets (capsule adjustments) and/or breast lifting may be necessary to achieve the outcome you are looking for.   Whether or not the adjustment of the breast implant capsules and/or breast lifting will be necessary will mainly be dependent on your physical examination; specifically, factors such as the amount of redundant skin, quality of skin elasticity,  and how much you downsize will be important.  
In other words, there may be other variables involved, besides just breast implant volume, that come into play when it comes to achieving the desired aesthetic outcome with  Breast implant downsizing surgery.
Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering revisionary (downsizing) breast augmentation surgery is:
1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.
2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. 
In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or "down a cup size” or "full B, small C cup" or "significant change" etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful.
Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. 
3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your chosen plastic surgeon to work with you in determining the best plan to achieve your goals.

Implant companies have different names for their profiles, but some would call the lowest profile implant "classic" profile.  As the profile or projection goes down for a given volume, the implant gets wider.  So its just as important to fit the width of your body if you want a natural result.
