Thank you for your question! Any clothing that is comfortable to you is ok to wear over your compression garment. If you’re able to fit your jeans over the garment, it is ok to, as long as they are not overly tight and causing indentations through your garment, onto your surgical sites. I hope this helps!
Your plastic surgeon knows your postoperative course best and would be better able to advise you on this. However, if you have a stable result that has not changed in weeks, then wearing tight jeans is probably not going to disrupt anything or create a dent, other than a temporary one. I recommend following up with your Doctor about their protocol regarding compression. I have my patients wear customized compression after their procedure. For liposuction after care, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Best, Dr. Emer
We recommend compression garment for 3-4 weeks after surgery. Few days after surgery, when major swelling is gone, patient can ware any type of casual clothes she/he desires at least for few hours. Be aware of the folds and creases it may leave on your swollen body and massage them to prevent more permanent marks. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon has a different protocol for after liposuction and they vary widely. I suggest you ask your surgeon about his or her preferences.Best of luck!Dallas R. Buchanan, MD, FACSOwner & Board-Certified Plastic SurgeonVIVIFY plastic surgery
Dear footballqtpie, compression garments are used to promote healing and reduce swelling, and most plastic surgeons will recommend it after liposuction. Every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Every doctor has their own procedures. I suggest my patients to try the lymphatic massages and to use a full body compression garment along with an abdominal board, 24/7 for the first 3 months, and after that, for 12 hours a day for 3 more months, to get the best results. If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon.Good luck :)
Hi dear, thank you for your question. If the clothes is comfortable and on top of your garment then there is nothing wrong with it as the garment will be the one doing the work while your body is healing. Usually I recommend my patients to wear casual clothes once the swelling has stopped and not wear it too tight at least for one month.Good luck!Dr. Jimenez Toribio Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.
Your compression garments help with swelling and recovery. They also help give you a smooth results. Avoid clothes on top of your compression garments that may create a "crease" /compression in areas where you had the liposuction. This would be working against your compression garments to give you a smooth result.
Hello and thank you for your question. Often times after liposuction a compression garment is beneficial to help keep swelling down. I would follow the post operative care that your plastic surgeon has advised. Good luck to you!
