Exactly how likely is it to develop chronic problems from cauterization vs other techniques? What symptoms are usually involved with cauterization if I do follow thru with the surgery?

Septal perforations are somewhat challenging to deal with and most often require some form of tissue flap to repair. The area is so sensitive that irritating the edges to encourage healing many times fails.
At the time of septoplasty, you do not need the turbinates operated on, unless when the septum is straightened the turbinates are touching the septum. Then something would have to be done. You need to be examined first to figure out of the turbinates are enlarged to begin with.
