I have a lot of skin puckering. Is this normal? Will it eventually look normal? Is there anything I can use to help the healing process and therefore improve the appearance of my belly button.

   Dear distilled 123, There are ways to correct or change the appearance of your belly button. The first thing that needs to be done is to determine if you have an umbilical hernia. This can usually be repaired at the same time as your umbilicoplasty (surgery to the belly button)....

There is a lot of swelling as would be expected in the umbilical stump after an umbilicoplasty. Be patient is this will change considerably over the upcoming weeks.

The photograph is inadequate to permit a precise surgical strategy. Narrowing the diameter of the umbilicus possibly some fat grafting might improve the aesthetic situation.

         I think that a minitummy tuck will not improve the skin around the belly button.   You may want to consider a short scar tummy tuck, which will have the same length scar as the minitummy tuck but will remove about twice as much skin...

You might have a hernia around your belly button.  For this, I would recommend seeing a general surgeon in your area to see if this can be corrected.  Good luck!
