At five weeks following atummy tuck, it is very unusual for the upper abdomen and pubic area to beextremely swollen unless a very significant liposuction was performed at thetime of abdominoplasty. If that was the case, swelling will persist until threemonths when all swelling is expected to be resolved. If you have had aggressive liposuction, expect a certain degree of firmness and swelling in these areas. It is possiblethat there could be a collection of fluid under your skin and your doctor needsto examine you for that because that would represent a seroma and does need tobe removed. If that is not the case, expect that to be swelling fromliposuction and it should continue to improve and resolve by three months.
but you should let your surgeon know so you can be evaluated for a hematoma or fluid collection as these would need attention. Always best to stay the course with your surgeon since your surgeon should share the same motivations you have the best outcome possible.
