I have dehiscence at 3 weeks post op. How long should I expect the wound to continue to open from tummy tuck? (photo)

Question

I’m dressing wounds wet to dry twice a day for 5 days and the wound separation continues to enlarge. Also have at least a 1 inch diameter hole under left breast after reduction. Can the wound be closed with a second surgery?

Dear SoloPop1,
it is hard to tell for sure just by looking at one photo, but it looks like you have wound separation. In most cases, it is caused by increased tension and poor blood flow. I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon, follow your surgeon's instructions and keep your wound clean and covered. It can take few weeks or months for wound to fully heal.
