Both are methods for removing fat. Water-lipo is water-assisted. For best results with liposuction, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction which uses ultrasound technology. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Water liposuction, also known as water-assisted liposuction, is a variation of traditional liposuction. The main difference lies in the technique used to break down and remove fat. In water liposuction, a pressurized stream of saline solution is used to dislodge fat cells, making them easier to suction out. This is thought to result in less trauma to surrounding tissues compared to traditional liposuction methods. Both procedures aim to remove excess fat and contour the body, but the specific techniques and tools vary. It’s essential to consult with a skilled plastic surgeon to determine the most suitable approach for individual needs.
There are different ways of suctioning fat out of the body. There is a machine called the Body Jet. It utilizes salt water (basically a teaspoon of salt in a quart of water) to help remove the fat during liposuction. Regular liposuction involves placing a cannula (a blunt tip metal straw) in the body and hooking it up to a vacuum cleaner. Ultrasonic Assisted liposuction utilizes ultrasonic waves to “melt the fat” prior to suctioning out the fat. Power assisted liposuction involves using a machine that vibrates the cannula back and forward at a very high rate in order to help in removing the fat. Laser lipo incorporates laser energy which heats up the fluid around the fat and cooks the fat before suctioning it out. I incorporate the Safe technique which Dr. S Wall invented. I feel that this significantly increases the safety and results while performing liposuction. I hope you find this information useful. Please watch the enclosed video.
There are many different types of liposuction, but really the most important factor in determining your outcome is the surgeon and their experience. I would suggest seeing a board-certified plastic surgeon who will have had training and experience in the use of all of these tools. Best of luck! Dr. Boschert
Excellent question Tinaw32! There are various types of liposuction including "water," "power-assisted," "ultrasound," "radiofrequncy," and regular or "suction assisted." All of the other techniques use an additional source to help break up and remove the fat cells. There is not any high quality evidence to suggest that any of the other techniques produce a better result or have lower complications than suction assisted lipectomy or regular liposuction. There is some evidence to suggest that the less damage caused to the fat during harvest may increase viability in fat transfer so keep that in mind if you are getting a Brazilian butt lift or fat grafting elsewhere. Hope this helps some :)Best of luck to you,Dr. Max
Thanks for the question. Water liposuction offers no advantage over liposuction. The are many different modalities (types of equipment) used for liposuction. Laser, power, ultrasound, water, etc. are all types of liposuction. The most important factor is the experience of the surgeon. He will determine which is the best modality to use in your particular case.
They are nearly identical but water lipo has a mist of water at the tip. There is no evidence that water lipo is any better than regular lipo. See more in the link below.
There are many different ways to perform liposuction- power assisted, VASER, water lipo, etc. They all can achieve the same results they just have a slightly different method for loosening the fat before it is removed by suction. Find a board certified plastic surgeon in your are and she/he can evaluate you. Best wishes!
