Stability is the goal. It is always best to exhibit restraint in the post-partum period. This is due to the fact that your body is changing dramatically during this period. The hormonal fluctuation can alter size and shape widely during the immediate post-partum period and can continue through the period of nursing. Body contouring during this period is the equivalent of hitting a moving target. The optimal candidate for surgery has reached a healthy stable weight. In the setting of a recent pregnancy and delivery this stable weight can take some time to reach. A general rule of thumb is at least 6-9 months post-partum. If you choose to breast-feed through the first year of life you should allow at least three months following the discontinuation of breast-feeding before considering any procedures. While there may be variations in the recommendations from one physician to another, the goal is the same...stability. Thus a delay of 9 months or 3 months post cessation of breast feeding (whichever is longer...will ensure that you have reached a plateau). As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
Hello and thank you for the question,Most surgeons would recommend waiting for a period of 6 months to 1 year, in addition to having clearance from a OB/gyn prior to under going any procedures. It is also best to get as close to your pre-pregnancy weight prior to undergoing the procedure as this will likely give you the best aesthetic outcome. You may also want to weigh the options of whether this is your last pregnancy, if not... It may be wise to delay your desire to get liposuction. Best Waqqas N. Jalil
You need time for the C-section scar to heal so I recommend waiting six months following the C-section and an additional 3 months after breastfeeding is complete. Losing most of the postpartum weight or being within 10 pounds of your weight goal would enhance the results of the lipo. Lipo will allow you to have stubborn fat resistant to exercise and diet removed from unwanted areas (your abdomen, flanks, back) and transferred to areas that can benefit from the added volume and will result in a waist as small as possible. Thank you for your question. Patients should wait around 6 to 9 months post-partum in order to allow their bodies to heal and get back to their normal state, reaching an stable weight and hormonal balance. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. A key quality indicator is Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
Usually 4 to 6 months post part is average wait time. But in person evaluation with private practice boarded PS always best. See my dm to you.
Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information, as well. It is important that you wait at least six months to have surgery, after a c-section.I recommend to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon, for a good evaluation and to talk about your goals.Good luck :)
It’s important to make sure we wait until after you are done breast feeding. We would want to get a clearance from your obgyn. You would also need to be examined by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to confirm you are a good candidate for surgery. I hope you find this information useful. Please watch the enclosed video.
Thank you for asking about your facial liposuction.I am so sorry this happened. It will take six months to see your final result. In the meantime, discuss your disappointment with your surgeon and ask about having filler to restore your looks. If your surgeon is not a Board Certified Plastic or...
Some plastic surgeons have elaborate drawings on their patients while others are more simple. These markings are a tool for the surgeon to achieve the best result. This is not nearly as important as the technique the surgeon uses during the actual case.
Hello andreamillanblando, I appreciate your questions! Depending on the volume of fat to be removed, cosmetic surgeons may performed liposuction with either local or general anesthesia. I typically use general anesthesia when performing large volume liposuction procedures (beyond 4-5 Liters). ...
