My left breast is numb after explant, is this normal?

I am Day 3 post explant of PIP ruptured implants and the capsular. My left breast is numb around the outer area. Still have feeling everywhere else including the nipple Is this normal? Could it be the bra is bound to tight? Any help highly appreciated. My follow up isn't until Tuesday 22nd 5 days time.

hello sophie143  Regeneration of the sensory nerves is accompanied by tingling, burning, or shooting pains which disappear with time and are nothing to be alarmed about. If, however, swelling, redness, infection, or drainage accompanies this, then you will need to see the doctor at the office.

It is normal but may resolve over a period of weeks to several years.  Removal of the capsule may damage the nerves.

Numbness isn't uncommon after surgery due to the trauma to the nerves from the procedure.  Many times it resolves over time.  I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about your concerns as he/she is most familiar with the details of your surgery.

Numbness is a risk with any breast surgery, especially when tissue or capsule is removed. Some may be temporary and will slowly return over the next several months. If you are still numb at one year, you will probably remain so.
