hello longviewmer The removal of breast implants that have been placed either for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes is a surgical operation. Breast implant removal may be performed as a single surgical procedure or combined with additional procedures, as follows: Simple breast implant removal, without removal of capsule tissue around implant Removal of tissue surrounding the breast implant (capsulectomy) Removal of escaped silicone gel in breast tissue (extracapsular, outside of capsule layer) from silicone gel-filled implants (breast biopsy) Breast lift (mastopexy following breast implant and/or capsule removal) #arms #lift
Long anesthetic times can be dangerous. I recommend an in-office examination as well as a detailed discussion with a surgeon who you are comfortable with. Finally, make sure your surgeon is a Double-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).Best,Dr. DesaiBeverly Hills Institute for Aesthetic Plastic SurgeryHarvard Educated, Beverly Hills & Miami Beach TrainedDouble Board-Certified Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon
Dear longviewtimer,Some plastic surgeons may want to split this into two operations depending on the time needed. Its best to see a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine your options and whether it would take too long, greater than 6 hours, to do both.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. It is common to combine procedures but there is a limit that is considered safe. Most surgeons prefer to limit surgical time to about 6 hours. An examination would be required to know for sure, but you will probably need to stage your desired procedures into at least two surgical days. I recommend visiting with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to learn more.
As other have stated, most try to keep anesthesia time under 6 hours. The only way to do all of those procedures at once in that time frame is to have multiple surgeons working at once. Some group practices or university practices may have the resources to do that, but most would like to split it up into at least 2 separate operations.
