Im 23 yrs old, didn’t have much fat to begin with. I just got 2 vials of kybella a couple days ago, I’ve been watching videos and saw that other peoples swelling did not go completely down after 3 weeks. My concern is that 3 weeks after my scheduled second treatment (two more vials), I have an event to go to. Is that enough time for the swelling to go down completely? Is there anything I can do to make the swelling go down more quickly? I’ve been staying hydrated and getting sleep.
Answer: Yes and No on the Swelling Show Me Girl,Thank you for your question. After the Kybella treatment there is nothing that can significantly reduce the speed of swelling resolution. Compression and or Ice can provide brief temporary improvement of the swelling and its symptoms, but will not significantly shorten the time it takes to resolve. However postponing your second treatment will help prevent additional swelling prior to your event.Wishing you the best of health, Dr Wright

Answer: Kybella Swelling Hi, I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector here at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. Swelling after Kybella is a completely normal part of the healing process, and while it can’t be predicted exactly, there are definitely things you can do to help minimize it. Staying well-hydrated, reducing your sodium intake, gently icing the area, taking Arnica, and using light compression can all support a smoother recovery. If you have an important event coming up, it’s a great idea to talk with your injector about possibly spacing out your second treatment or rescheduling it for after the event. Waiting a little longer won’t affect your overall results.

Answer: Swelling after Kybella Hi and thank you for your question! Swelling is very common after Kybella as it induces inflammation in the treated areas. Most of the swelling is expected to resolve within 2 weeks after injection, but in you case if you do not want to take any risks and the event is 3 weeks after the 2nd round, you can always postpone the 2nd round to after the event so that you will have peace of mind. I hope it helps and good luck!

Answer: Kybella and Swelling I have great results with Kybella and do a lot of Kybella in my office. The swelling is a necessary component of the process since you must have that enzymatic reaction in order to work. I would push back your second treatment until after your event since it is very possible that you will still be swollen. Please consult an expert in Kybella for the best cosmetic results. Best, Dr. Green

Answer: Speeding up the healing process i'm not a fan of this treatment at all. There a cover he is much more difficult than liposuction and the results are too unpredictable. There's no alternative but to except the swelling and schedule accordingly. At least you'll have the first go around to assess what the recovery is like. Three weeks seems like a short timeframe to have your second treatment. May I recommend not committing to two treatments until you've seen what the first one does. In general doing several treatments with less product seems more tolerable and gives better accuracy in regards to judging how much and where the medication should be placed. You can try anti-inflammatory steroids if your doctor is OK with it but it will not make a major difference. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
