Is chin implant removed in all cases before orthognathic surgery?

I had a chin implant 2 years ago but I may undergo orthognathic surgery to treat my sleep apnea over the next year. I’ve heard many surgeons choose to remove a chin implant at the time of surgery, but I feel that the implant would still be beneficial for my profile despite the anterior jaw movement. Are there any situations where the chin implant can stay? Or is the implant removed in almost all cases?

From board-certified doctors and trusted medical professionals
Providing that your chin mass is entirely fibrous, scar tissue, it can be treated with injection of corticosteroid (Kenalog) until it is significantly reduced. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is recommended.
Loss of weight can have an effect on the appearance of the face and the neck where loss of volume can create drooping of the skin and loss of definition of the jawline.
The gold standard of improving this would be a Lower Face and Neck Lift, however at your age, non-surgical tightening...
This is uncommon just because not many people are trained in it. I've been doing this procedure for more than 20 years. The results are quite good. Watch our videos to learn more.
