Red blotchy face 4 days post op Tummy Tuck, is this normal?

Thank you for your question. It's hard to say what is causing it but there are many things on the list. You could be having an allergic reaction to one of your medications or just stressed out after your surgery (My wife commonly has some flushing of her face when she is stressed, especially when she is mad at me! Just kidding). 4 days after surgery it is common for patients to feel stressed because of hormonal changes that occur after surgery. At day 4 your stress hormones (cortisol, etc) drop and, in some patients, cause a mini-depressed mood for a day or so. It's okay and should pass. Be sure to discuss all this with your surgeon because it can be an allergic reaction to something. Best of luck.
