I'm considering getting a v line surgery. How likely would I have sagging? (photos)

When you are considering V line surgery the best approach to take before surgery is to assume you will have some soft tissue sagging...because many patients do. It is not a question of whether such sagging will occur but of how significant it will be...which is open to wide patient interpretation. When the soft tissues of the lower jaw are widely stripped off to perform the procedure and the bony support for them is reduced, it is not realistic to assume that they will just shrink down completely to a smaller bone structure even in young patients. Many V line patients do just fine but the risk exists and can never be completely avoided no matter how technically competent the procedure is performed.

Hello ilovemacaroons, It's not possible to completely predict how much sagging you would have. A useful piece information is the amount of bone that will be removed. More or excessive bone removal would lean things towards more sagging. Your soft tissue is stripped off of the bone in the V line procedure, which is a risk factor for sagging. However, your young age is a benefit, as skin tends to be able to contract better in younger people. Discuss with your surgeon who aggressive you want to be in this operation, keeping in mind the risk of soft tissue droop, or sagging.
