Would rhinoplasty/CO2 laser help with my bulbous tip and thick skin? (Photo)

Question

My cartilaginous nose is noticeably wider than my bony nose. I wish the tip of my nose was as narrow as my bony part of the nose. I presume my nasal skin is too thick. If the bulbous tip is fully or mostly caused by the thick skin can I thin the skin and achieve my goal by means of C02 laser therapy? Or am I just stuck with tip plasty?

Thank you for your question and sharing your photograph.

The appearance of your nose suggests that your nasal skin is not very thick. As such, I doubt that laser would be needed to produce more defined contours.

In general terms, the character of the bridge of the nose is fairly sculpted with relatively strong shadows and it may be a suitable match if the characteristics of the nasal tip would follow similar features.

The general though, you will probably find that you need a consultation in person for surgeons to evaluate the characteristics of the skin and give you more personalised advice.

Hello! Thank you for your question.Your nose looks great overall. Anyway, I recommend you a rhinoplasty surgery if you want to achieve a smaller nose. CO2 therapy won't make too much difference or changes.

Based on your photo, rhinoplasty surgery would be necessary to achieve any degree of narrowing of your nasal tip. I do not believe CO2 laser resurfacing would be of any help. Thank you for your question and I hope this is helpful. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Addressing a Bulbous nasal tip: you appear to have a bulbous nasal tip. This may be due to prominent alar Cartilage, or thick skin, or both. A rhinoplasty will trim the cartilage and can also trim a small amount of subcutaneous tissue making the tip thinner. If further thinning is desired, and the skin is thick, steroid injection in the postoperative period is the most effective way of thinning soft tissue after excess cartilage has already been trimmed.
