My Orthodontist suggested removal of 4 premolars before getting braces due to the lack of space in my mouth. But I heard that removal of premolars can make you look aged and cause TMJ issues or sleep apnea. I really want to know if there's any other alternative for me. I want straight teeth but I the idea of removing 4 teeth doesn't sound appealing to me.

It looks like the retainers still fit okay... Do you have any habits that may have caused your front teeth to shift forward over time? For example: tongue thrust (tongue pushes forward when swallowing instead of upward), nail biting? Sometimes the forces from these habits continue to push on...
There is definitelya space between your front teeth. It is possible that the retainer closes the space and when you remove the retainer the space opens again. I suggest talking to the orthodontist about a fixed retainer to keep the space closed.
