Hello. So I’m gonna have braces in my country and Im only will stay here for 1 month bcz I’m going back to New Zealand . My orthodontist told me that my braces will just adjust a year!! That means that every year I have to go back to my country just to adjust it.. My opinion is as most people who have braces they always see they’re orthodontist every month to adjust they’re braces.. Is it possible that I don’t see my orthodontist for every month checkup?? Can it damage my teeth??

It is not a good idea to start braces if you aren't available for follow up visits monthly. Adjusting your braces once a year will not lead to a good outcome and may make you prone to decay and other problems. If you can't commit to monthly visits don't get braces.

Orthodontic treatment is a dynamic treatment, which means that you need to adjust them based on how the teeth are moving.  Not all teeth will move the same way, so you need to monitor it monthly.  There will be time when you need to repo a bracket or do IPR.  Even if you don't do that, you still need to change the ligature ties monthly since it loses its elasticity.  What happen if a bracket comes off.  Will you wait for a year to get it fixed?
