What percentage of Sculptra patients have problems with granulomas or nodules?

Great question!   Sculptra nodules can occur, but if prepared properly and massaged thoroughly, rarely form.   They only appear where it was injected.   I had noticed more nodule formation in the temple area, so we stress massage in these regions.

It is possible to develop nodules or granulomas with any injectable filler, including Sculptra.  For all fillers, the incidence of developing these bumps or lumps is not common at all.  For Sculptra, if a bump or lump did appear, it would be in the treated area and not in a different area.  Some bumps can appear within in a few weeks after the treatment but sometimes it can take months for them to appear.  I would say the percentage of people that do develop some sort of lump is less than 2%.  In many cases, these lumps will just go away by themselves over time.  Some lumps can be treated if needed.

Back in the 1990s one Sculptra first came out, we had some issues with granuloma and cyst formation. Those were attributed to improper dilution techniques as well as improper guidance as to WHERE Sculptra should be injected. Since 1998 we haven't had a single case of a granuloma or cyst formation after a treatment using Sculptra. Sculptra granulomas always occur in the area of treatment only. Hi there,Now that Sculptra has been on the market for a long period of time the percentage is quite small.  Ass long as massaging and dilution is done properly there shouldn't be any issues.See an expert..
