6 months post-op, my breasts are sagging and you can't even tell I had a lift - what happened?

Thank you for your question. If your implants are under the muscle, overtime the muscle test to push the implants down and laterally, towards your armpit. The key is to limit this attack as much as possible. Ass implants become larger, it is more difficult to control them from sagging Especially when combined with a breast lift. You would benefit from tightening the breast pocket, and an internal mash to provide longer lasting results. Additionally, you can consider downsizing your implants and even performing a hybrid type of procedure where you can place a smaller implant with some fat grafting to produce a more natural results. With any breast augmentation and lift, your breasts will over time return to a lower position due to gravity. Due to the large implant volume, it is reasonable that your implants "dropped". I recommend speaking with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns.

Hello, thank you for your question. Usually with a breast lift and implants it is common for things to fall after several months. We can never get them to stay perky because of gravity. Of course there is a time frame when we would expect to see that in. I would just go back to your plastic surgeon talk about your concerns and see what options you have. If your implants were not placed behind the muscle, your tissue tends to sag again fairly early because of the extra weight. Also, you chose a large size which will still sag because of the weight. If you lift again, go with something smaller and less heavy and have it placed behind the muscle.

Patient's operative results can change radically over the first 3-6 months and can continue to change up to the first year after surgery (sometimes there can continue to be some changes after the first year, but generally 1 year is when things should be pretty steady). In any breast procedure whether it is a reduction, lift, augmentation, or lift with augmentation the breasts will start high on the chest and then slowly drift down to a more natural state over the first 3-6 months. This is due to the swelling going away and natural relaxation of the tissues. The amount that the tissue descends is related to the weight of tissue remaining and your natural breast shape. There are a few things a surgeon can do to "encourage" the tissues to remain higher, such as using meshes, but this can add expense, additional risk, and cannot guarantee that everything will remain as lifted. I would get several opinions form board certified/eligible plastic surgeons and especially ask questions about how the surgeon would expect things to settle overtime. In addition, gravity continues to work on breasts even after surgery, so the more tissue you have (i.e. the larger the implant), you may see additional descent of tissues over the years since there is more weight on them.

Hi and welcome to our forum!From your photos, the early postoperative view demonstrates large tight symmetric breasts without sag.The later views are somewhat distorted by your position but there is lateral drift of the left implant. The sag has recurred. Permanent damage of overstretched skin can occur during pregnancy or significant weight fluctuation where when pregnant or overweight, the skin's dermal elastic fibers rupture, resulting in the loss of elasticity (like an old rubber band). The skin will stretch over a greater surface area and will predispose to further sagging. Mastopexy is designed to elevate the nipple areolar complexes into anatomic position, remove excess stretched out skin, and conify the shape of the breasts. The additional weight of the 470 cc implants has restretched the permanently damaged skin and has resulted in the secondary sag. This has also apparently resulted in lateral drift of the left implantYou are a potential candidate for a secondary lift with tightening of the lateral aspect of the left breast pocket, but I would recommend considering smaller implants as the stretched skin may stretch more with the added weight of heavy implants.
