What is a double capsule and what causes it? (Photo)

I had my breast implants replaced due to grade IV capsular contracture on the right side. When my sergon went in to take it out, he said that it was actually a double capsule. He said he had heard of them before but never seen one in his practice, which means it's rare because he specializes in revisions.

The fact that your implant is moving is a good sign and very normal. You want it to move. But don't worry that the other side is stiffer. It is very common for each breast to heal at a different rate. Best, Dr. Nazarian

It sounds as if the two issue are unrelated. Typically with a saline rupture, you know because the implant deflates. It doesn't result in drainage through the skin. Bottom line, you need to be assessed in person so make an appointment with your surgeon or another board certified plastic surgeon...

I am so sorry that you are experiencing this. It can happen at any time regardless of whether or not the implant is placed above or below the muscle. Unless you gain a lot of weight (which I wouldn't advise), there is little chance that this will improve. Best, Dr. Nazarian

I appreciate your question. It is possible that it is one of the sutures that was used to close the pocket after your breast augmentation.  Please contact your surgeon to make him/her aware.  They may want you to come in for evaluation. The best way to assess and give true advice...
