1 week post op, torpedo looking breast. Do you think a revision is in my future? (Photo)

Thank you for your question and photographs.  After placement of implants, the overall appearance of the breasts will change dramatically over the next several months, as the implants drop, and the overlying tissue stretches to accommodate the extra volume.  I know waiting is difficult, but judge your results at 4-6 months after surgery as most of your breast changes should have occurred by then. Right now, you are very early on in the
post op recovery period. It will take 3-6 months for you to feel comfortable
having implants in your body and for them to settle. This time allows for you
to physically and psychologically adapt to your new body image. There are many
variables that contribute to a breast augmentation's final result. Preop size
and shape, IMF location, location of the implants and type of implant. Patients
heal at different rates and each breast will sometimes heal at a different
rate. Rest, relax, recover and heal. Please Express your concerns to your surgeon so
he/she can examine you. Then reassess final result at 6 months.



The best way to assess and give true
advice would be an in-person exam.

Honestly, it is really too early to judge your results. It can take anywhere from 3-6 months for your breasts to heal and drop/settle. Follow up with your surgeon re: post op care such as massage, but otherwise, be patient and kind to yourself as your body recovers. Best, Dr. Nazarian

I wouldn't start worrying about this yet. Your breasts had a tuberous deformity before surgery, and this causes your fold below your breasts to be higher and more constricted before surgery.  There is a good chance that as those implants stretch the tissues and relax that fold, that all will be well.  This may take 6 months to a year, but generally improves with time.

Also your implants will drop and your tissue is going to accommodate better. You'll be fine. If this don't change, get an appt with your surgeon..

Pretty likely you are going to need a revision. Dr.Sadove described your problem very well.I would not suggest a massage, it is not likely to help.

You are only 1 week out and your tissues have not accommodated yet to the implant. I think you need to give your tissues time to relax, and for the implants to drop before getting too anxious about it.  This can take 2-4 months. That being said, if you have concerns you should contact your plastic surgeon so that they can examine you in person and make sure that they are happy with how you are healing.

Unfortunately, yes, I think you will likely need a revision. This is a very clear example of your old breast shape sitting on top of a muscle mound. If the implant were inside your breast I do not believe you would have this shape. There will be some improvement in time, however, the upper breast is so overfilled compared to the under filled lower breast that it is a very very long way to go. Under muscle implants create many problems.
