Hi, I had a TT, lipo and muscle repair 5 years ago. It was a success, but I have been interested in high definition vaser lipo on the abs to carve out a better shape. Would this be possible or would scar tissue on the lower abs be an issue for healing? I also wold like a belly button revision as mine is rather strange looking - can this be done?

Answer: Belly button revision and abs You can have your belly button redone and get your abs to show at the same time. The Gold Standard for superior liposuction results requires use of the advanced technology of ultrasound assisted VASER liposuction. As an official trainer of VASER liposuction, I perform full body liposuction cases every week. VASER liposuction has been the only modality that has consistently resulted in outstanding liposuction outcomes. VASER liposuction ensures a smooth contour regardless of degree of excess fat by virtue of being able to remove any and all remaining fat comprehensively and uniformly. If skin redundancy is observed, Renuvion technology can be simultaneously applied to tighten your skin to optimize your overall contour outcome. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Getting liposuction and belly button revision The best type of liposuction to get is the one performed by the most skilled an experienced provider. The name of the equipment is not important. People who spend $100,000 buying a new piece of equipment want to promote that device and only those who are on expensive machines claim that the device has any significant impact. I’ll plastic surgeons have the tools they need to do their jobs correctly. What makes the difference between good outcomes and not it’s not the equipment but simply skill and experience. The time to get the belly button right is during the tummy tuck. Trying to do this without taking your abdominal wall apart he’s going to be of limited success but I’m sure there’s plenty of people who are willing to try. Your pictures do not allow us to make an assessment if liposuction is a good idea or not. The best shot and getting the best looking belly button it will require taking apart the abdominal wall and basically redoing a large part of the tummy tuck. Doing it from the skin surface only makes revision a more limited procedure but may be possible as well. I suggest you follow up with your provider or schedule a few in person consultations for formal second opinions regarding Revision work or liposuction. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
