Varicose veins are due to malfunctioning (refluxing) valves usually of the saphenous system of veins. You should undergo a full venous evaluation by a vein specialist including a full venous ultrasound to look at both the deep system and the superficial system. This exam will help to diagnose the problem and formulate a treatment plan. Marfan's is not a contraindication to vein treatment. If you have varicose veins and refluxing valves, then you may be a candidate for laser vein closure. Sclerotherapy is done primarily for spider veins and sometimes for varicose veins and surgery for varicose veins in done very infrequently. Microphlebectomies (2mm punctures) are usually done in conjunction with laser closure to remove the varicose veins once the valves are sealed.
