I have reached the point where I need to do something about my face, it seems like it is now or never after I age more the lines will be more pronounced and set. I get alot of comments where ever I go asking if I used to be a heavy smoker or if I am alot older then I am. Having mild skin problems as a child I got given prescription topical steroidsteroids for my face by a well meaning adult. I realized the strong corticosteroids must have atrophied parts of my face.
Answer: How can I reduce nasolabial folds and premature aging at 26 years old from topical corticosteroid atrophy? Thank you for your pictures and questions. You could always go see a local board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns. However, from your photos, it appears to me that your concerns are completely within the realm of normal for someone of your age.Hope this helps!

Answer: Corticosteroid atrophy and premature skin aging at 26 Hi Geffennudges, I am sorry to hear that the corticosteroid treatments have caused premature aging to your skin. It is unfortunate that you weren't warned about this common complication. Please do not despair though - there is hope! I personally do not feel fillers are needed, particularly in the nasal folds. Your main problem seems to be premature loss of the thickness and elasticity in your skin. I recommend focusing on healthy skin. Some steps to achieve this are: Protect your skin from the sun with sunscreen and hats; do not smoke; eat a healthy diet, drink water and exercise. Start a medical grade anti-aging skin care program; I recommend the ZO anti-aging level 2 kit. Note that as medical grade products, the ZO medical care line is only available directly from physicians. As we carry it in our clinic I'm very familiar with it and I'm confident it will have everything you need to get your skin healthy. Next, regular Hydrafacials - about every six weeks - are also recommended. A light CO2 treatment will help to stimulate the skin to be thicker and more elastic. Healthy skin will be less saggy, less wrinkled, less oily, less dry, less red, and less pigmented. Healthy skin will have improved texture and be smooth, soft, and radiant. If at some point in the future you want to have filler, Botox, or even cosmetic surgery the results will be greatly dependent upon the quality of your skin, so getting it in great shape is key. Good luck.

Answer: Addressing facial volume loss with fillers One of the best ways to address volume loss is by using hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm or biostimulatory filler like Sculptra Aesthetic. This combined with good skincare should result in noticeable improvement.

Answer: Nasolabial area and premature wrinkles I would recommend consulting an expert in cosmetic injections and discuss adding some hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane in this area or Sculptra to add collagen. Please consult an expert in anti-aging to discuss other ways to prevent aging and the use of topical steroids in the future. Best, Dr. Green
