I was recently recommended a micro laser peel by a dermatologist for mild-moderate acne scarring. I don't have sun damage, large pores or wrinkles - Just redness & some superficial acne scars. I've had moderate chemical peels in the past which I find makes the redness worse, but she insisted its just b/c of the acids in peels. IPL has helped a lot with the redness, but I'm worried this laser treatment is unnecessary & will aggravate my sensitive skin and the redness & reverse the effects of IPL.
Answer: Micro peels and rosacea. Short answer- yes. This is not a problem, however the redness can be treated with other lasers and energy devices listed below. For acne scarring, the best results are seen with combination methods based upon your scar type. (see web reference - rather than a machine itself. There are many ways to treat scars that will reduce the chances of rosacea flare ups)Here are some of the rosacea treatments that I use to help control this condition. 1. Lasers ( to treat redness, broken capillaries, rhinophyma, flushing)- best laser is the V BEAM. IPL can be used, but usually not as effective 2. Creams - anti inflammatory 3. Tablets -anti - inflammatory and sometimes low dose Vitamin A. 4. For females- Mineral make up is recommend, over make up that contains parabens. For the best results, consult a dermatologist for both medical and laser treatment options. Kind regards Dr Davin S. Lim Laser Dermatologist Brisbane, Australia.
