If I have already been using topical rogain for almost a year what are the chances that I will shed with the oral minoxidl ? Will it just keep my hair the same as it is now? Or is it a better effect orally? Why cant I still use both? Is 1.25 the usual oral dose? Your knowldedge is appreciated. Thank you
Answer: Treatments for Hair Loss Hello,Women are currently not FDA approved for the use of the ARTAS. However, our use of the ARTAS does suggest that women who are experiencing androgenic alopecia may be good candidates. As always, women should have a thorough workup including the following: Trichoscopy- identify type of hair loss Extensive history and labs- rule out other forms of hair lossWe use ARTAS with regenerative techniques with women such as PRP and growth factors to help improve overall results. Answer: Treatment for Androgenic Alopecia This needs an in-person evaluation. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to go over your condition and advise you on best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone and/or hair transplantation. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Oral minoxidil Good question! There are no "yes" or "no" answers here only likelihoods. There is a reasonable chance of shedding even if you were using topical minoxidil. No, I never advise both together as the potential for side effects are increased greatly. This includes dizziness, low blood pressure, irregular heart rhythms, heart palpitations and weight gain (and other side effects too). 1.25 is a reasonable dose but sometimes I start much lower. I find that doses 1 mg or less are associated with least side effects and don't go higher. Be certain that you are being monitored by a physician while on oral minoxidil. It is not FDA approved nor Health canada approved and its use is entirely off label. You will need monitoring if this is what you decide to pursue.
