I'm interested in trying finasteride to help with my thinning hair on the top of my head. I am not clear on if it will help to regrow the hair that I've lost or thicken the hair I have or if it will only just prevent me losing additional hair in the balding areas.

Answer: Thinning hair It is difficult to answer your question without knowing if you are male or female. Finasteride works well in young men in their 20s and I have seen occasionally young men reverse their hair loss. It is usually ineffective in premenopausal women
